Rapid Prototyping

Delivering Unique Value in Product Development

To meet the cost considerations and time-to-market needs of OEMs, Esterline Interface Technologies offers rapid prototyping services. It is a major initiative of our engineering resources to rapidly bring customer products to reality and drives us to make them right the first time, without any tradeoffs of performance or quality.

Prototyping for membrane switch products can be achieved in less than 2 weeks utilizing U.S.-based components, or within 4-6 weeks with Asian componentry. System level user interface prototyping can be achieved in 4-6 weeks for U.S. based components and 8-10 weeks for solutions with Asian componentry.

We address the areas of construction that have the greatest impact on a design schedule, we’ve intellectualized the process from end-to-end to maximize turnaround.

  • Concurrent design and approval process.
  • Components for the construction are developed based on lead time requirement.
  • Our approved supplier base subscribes to the same velocity-based manufacturing concepts.
  • Lean initiatives allow us to produce prototypes on production equipment so we are able to identify process / manufacturing improvements during the prototype process, instead of waiting until production launch.
  • The majority of our raw materials are on consignment to insure that the necessary build materials are here when customers need them.
  • Lasers are used for membrane prototype fabrication in order to diminish lead times and reduce our customer’s prototype investment due to the fluctuation of the design between prototype and production. In this scenario, customers do not have to reinvest in tooling.
  • Prototypes manufactured to meet customer needs and / or budget. From fully functional prototypes that can be tested for certification to digitally printed, optically laminated graphics for shows and displays, our options fit your needs.
  • Full Team review prior to program launch. Our technical staff formally meets to kick off your program to ensure first time quality and on-time shipment.
