Esterline Control & Communication Systems is supplying all illuminated switch components and the overhead lighting panel for the cockpit of the new Cessna Citation Longitude super-midsize business jet, manufactured by Textron Aviation Inc.

Esterline products on the Citation Longitude cockpit include Korry 389 and 1380 LED pushbutton switches, overhead lighting-control panel, and illuminated knobs, as well as Janco rotary control products. Esterline's comprehensive offering provides a consistent human-machine interface throughout the cockpit, in both lighting uniformity and tactile response from component to component.

The Korry 5/8-inch switch is the most popular of its kind, integrated into the majority of business aircraft flying today. Leading the way in cockpit lighting, the Korry dimmable LED illuminated switch was introduced more than fifteen years ago, offering increased readability in varying light conditions.

The Korry UCS touchscreen display offers a 75-percent reduction in separate display and switching components, and is currently flying on Gulfstream G500 and G600 long-range business jets. The display technology increases ease of use for the crew, with control panel functions more easily changed by updating software rather than hardware.

The Esterline Codis SV-126 smart display has been selected by the US Army PEO Missiles and Space, Cruise Missile Defense Systems, working with The Boeing Company, for the turret gunner position on the AN/TWQ-1 Avenger Air Defense System. The Codis SV-126 display replaces a legacy computing environment that has reached its end of life and allows for greater flexibility in managing technical refresh cycles of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) products.

The SV-126 unit is a 10-inch rugged XGA (1024x768) LED-backlight display with COM Express architecture and Intel mobile multi-core CPUs that enable easy updates to the latest processors. It delivers the graphics and processing power of a rugged computer for high-performance visualization in a compact footprint.

Aviall awarded expanded distribution agreement for Esterline Korry, Mason, and Janco product lines

Aviall, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, has entered into an expanded agreement with Esterline Corporation to market and distribute the Korry, Mason, and Janco product lines.

The agreement expands Aviall’s product support to include all airline products in the Esterline Control & Communication Systems catalog — approximately 5,000 part numbers — and includes products such as flight controls, flight deck panels, and rotary switches.

AS9100

CMMI

Esterline AVISTA engineering services certified to AS9100 and appraised at CMMI Maturity Level 3

Esterline's AVISTA engineering-services group was recently certified as AS9100 compliant. This certification was performed at the Esterline Platteville facility, and the Cedar Rapids and Roseville offices leverage the same certified processes.

The AVISTA group has also successfully achieved a CMMI Level 3 rating. This appraisal occurs every three years, and results are currently in the standard review by the CMMI Institute. This appraisal was performed in accordance with Standard CMMI Appraisal Methodology for Process Improvement, specifically against CMMI for Development v1.3 and Maturity Level 3.

The ELITE Hearing Protection System is a new solution for the police, security, military, and emergency-services sectors, combining a trio of state-of-the-art hearing protection, advanced local-area awareness, and secure communications in one unit. It is the first commercially available headset developed to meet stringent defense and security specifications.

Racal Acoustics ELITE equipment has recently been selected as the hearing protection and communication system of choice by the Estonian Army for use by troops traveling in the back of the new CV90 tracked vehicles. Estonian Signals Corps officials have been integrating the ELITE system into the Estonian tactical network, and it will provide dismounted troops with the ability to communicate over three separate networks as well as the vehicle intercom.

Esterline introduces Codis NetViz At-The-Glass recording technology at World ATM Congress in Madrid

Codis NetViz technology offers real At-The-Glass recording capabilities, built in or retrofitted into Esterline’s 2Kx2K air-traffic control (ATC) display, the Codis MDP-471/4 main radar display. Images are captured at the display, and both compressed and uncompressed data can be streamed losslessly for recording or real-time remote viewing and collaboration.
