The SA-2112A Black Analog Communications switch (BCS) extends the SA-2112 switching technology to meet other communications switching requirements. In shipboard applications, the switch provides automated switching between modems, voice and data encryption devices and radio circuits. The SA-2112A replaces radio transmitter and receiver transfer switchboards and patch panels (E.G. SB-863/SRT, SB-2727, SB-3833, SB-82, SB-83). Implementation of the SA-2112A provides significant advantages in automated switching, weight, space, reliability and maintainability over the switchboard implementation. Two basic configurations of the SA-2112A are provided, A standard SA-2112A, physically packaged in a six foot cabinet, and a small ships configuration, SA-2112A(V)1, that is physically packaged in a smaller 32" cabinet. Common sub-assemblies are used in both configurations. These sub-assemblies are also common with the SA-2112 Secure Voice Switch (SVS). A nonblocking solid state division matrix is used within the switch architecture for transmit and receive signals. Discrete and control and status signals are multiplexed through the switch. A front Control and Status panel (CSP) provides the operator interface to exercise complete control over all BSC functions. The CSP can be used to program independent receive and transmit interconnections, display current interconnection status, isolate system faults, and to monitor all circuits by using the panel-mounted handset. Commonality with the SA-2112 SVS in panel operation is maintained. The SA-2112A(V)1 is designed to extend SA-2112 technology to ship classes with less demanding requirements. This configuration is packaged in a smaller thirty-two (32) inch high cabinet that can be rack mounted. The configuration retains all of the key performance and operational characteristics of the large cabinet SA-2112A. The cards, power supplies, and battery/battery conditioner are common with the large cabinet configuration.

The SA-2112(V)/STQ secure Voice Switch (SVS) system is designed to satisfy the US Navy's requirement for an integrated secure/nonsecure system. The system is comprised of a central secure voice switch, the SA-2112(V)/STQ, and a number of remote control indicators (CIN's), C-10276/SSC. The modular SVS replaces dedicated plain and secure voice switches with a single automated switch providing remote use access, clear/cipher capability and multiple channel selection. The SVS and CIN are self-contained units developed for naval platforms and meet the requirements of MIL-E-16400 and secure communication criteria for interchannel isolation. Two basic configurations of the central switch are provided - a standard SA-2112(V)n/STQ, physically packaged in a six foot cabinet, and a small ships configuration, SA-2112(V)1/STQ, that is physically packaged in a smaller 32" cabinet. Common sub-assemblies are used in both configurations. The switch architecture employs a nonblocking solid-state space division matrix for audio transmit and receive signals, and a time division technique for switching discrete control and status signals. One centrally located Control and Status Panel (CSP) enables the operator to exercise complete control over all SVS functions. The CSP can be used to program lin-trunk interconnections and eligibility data to the controller memory, display SVS interconnections status, isolate system faults, and to monitor all voice channels by using the panel-mounted handset. SVS switching design, based upon Palomar' advanced design of its microminature audio matrix LSI chip, provides the extremely low levels of crosstalk required to allow both classified and unclassified audio to appear simultaneously in the same switching unit - system channel-to-channel crosstalk isolation 83 dB at 10kHz and device crosstalk isolation greater than 120 dB at 10 kHz. The COMSEC-compatible design is operational on several platforms at the present time.

The SA-2112B(V)/STQ Red Digital Switch system is designed to satisfy the U.S. Navy's requirement for providing secure switching of data, clock and discretes among cryptographic equipment, modems, digital communication terminals, teletypewriters, tape perforators and tape distribution equipment.

The system is comprised of a central secure digital switch, the SA-2112B(V)/STQ . The modular RDS replaces dedicated secure digital patch panels with a single automated switch providing remote user access, secure digital transmit, recieve capability and multiple net selection.

Two basic configurations of the central switch are provided: a standard SA-2112B(V)n/STQ, physically packaged in a six-foot cabinet, and a small configuration, SA-2112B(V)1/STQ, that is physically packaged in a smaller 32" cabinet. Common subassemblies are used in both configurations.
