Esterline Racal Acoustics has today been honoured with a Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade after increasing its overseas revenues by 124% in three years. The Queen's Awards for Enterprise are the UK's most prestigious Awards for business performance. They recognise and reward outstanding achievement by UK companies.
The award was announced today (April 21), the Queen’s birthday.
Esterline Racal Acoustics has a long history of design, development and manufacture of audio ancillary equipment for the world's military markets. Based in Harrow in north-west London, the company employs approximately 180 staff.
Esterline Racal Acoustics products are designed to protect hearing and enhance communication in high and medium noise environments, such as aircraft, tracked and wheeled vehicles as well as for dismounted soldiers. The product range includes noise attenuating, lightweight and In-The-Ear headsets, handsets, microphones, field communications systems and avionics equipment.
Over the past five years, Esterline Racal Acoustics has undergone significant business process engineering to reflect the shifts and trends in the military market and enable this remarkable increase in overseas revenues. This included the overhaul of manufacturing and supply chain activities, the integration of ‘lean manufacturing’ techniques and a culture of continual improvement. The significant increase in revenues has been achieved by winning a number of new international programmes and developing key partnerships in overseas markets such as US, Canada, Australia and India. Esterline Racal Acoustics Managing Director Geof Eeles said: “We are all immensely proud of winning this prestigious award. It really acknowledges the tremendous growth the company has enjoyed over the last years and clearly shows what a truly international business Racal Acoustics has become."
