CMC Electronics’ Vertical Pigtail Package is a hermetic feedthrough fiber pigtail technology package for Electro-Optic receiver or emitter products. This packaging option offers high reliability in harsh environmental conditions. It can be used as a drop-in replacement for most circular TO-can glass window products using a relay lens assembly for fiber optic coupling.
Design possibilities include adding electronics and adjusting the package size (height and/or diameter) to accommodate thermo-electrical cooling, Bi-Directional (BiDi) transceiver, etc. and adaptable to various fiber geometries.

CMC Electronics’ lateral pigtail receivers use an InGaAs APD with a GasFET cascode configuration transimpedance amplifier in a DIL-14 package. The amplifier uses an internal feedback resistor with an overload input protection circuit for fast recovery. This module is optimized for Continuous Wave (CW) type of operation into 100 Ohms impedance load.
