TacView® Portable Mission Display
- Places mission enhancing functionality at the flight crew's fingertips.
- Mission planning and in-flight re-planning.
- Portable - processor/display unit can be used on or off aircraft.
- Increases crew efficiency by reduces cockpit workload.
TacView Portable Mission Display is a compact, self-contained computer and display system designed specifically to enhance situational awareness for military and paramilitary aircrews. It is a cost effective, rapidly deployable COTS system with the processing power to support multiple mission-enhancing applications on fixed and rotary wing aircraft. TacView is essentially a force multiplier providing a portable, smart display interface for real-time communications.
High vibration and temperature extremes associated with demanding airborne operations will not affect TacView's performance, nor will they cause untimely system shut-downs. Internal solid state compact flash memory ensures continuous operation in the most challenging cockpit conditions. In fact, the system remained operational after two ejection seat sled tests performed for an operational utility evaluation.
Key Features

- MFD bezel buttons designed for gloved-hand tactile feedback.
- Integrated sliding QWERTY keyboard.
- Solid-state compact flash internal memory for operation in high vibration environments.
- Intel Pentium® running Windows XP Pro® Operating System provides maximum off-the-shelf flexibility.
Situational awareness only happens with the right tools. TacView is the portable mission tool that links the crew to the networked battlefield without costly and time consuming upgrades associated with a fully integrated product in legacy airframes. CMC has combined a COTS processor with an advanced display and touchscreen interface into a flexible system that supports advanced situational awareness capabilities aircrews need to fly today’s demanding missions.
TacView’s COTS design hosts virtually any software designed to run on Windows XP Pro® . Aircrews enjoy enhanced awareness and reduced workload in all phases of flight by selecting the applications that best suit their conditions. Tested applications include:
- Interactive Digital moving maps with tactical overlays, such as FalconView.
- Mission planning and on-the-fly mission re-planning utilizing Portable Flight Planning System (PFPS).
- Link16 data display and management
- Approach, departure, and navigation publications organized in a customizable rapid-search menu .
- Text and live-feed video capabilities when interfaced to Tactical Data Link communication systems.
- 9-line/15-line text messaging and target imagery places close air support decision-making information at the pilot's fingertips.
- Linked Electronic Checklists assist the crew with routine as well as emergency procedures.
- Near real-time weather depiction enables time and fuel-saving adjustments to the mission or flight plan.
- Computational fuel management software used for fuel planning based on aircraft-specific performance characteristics and load-outs.
Additional functional applications and products enable note-taking, image sharing, post-flight maintenance debrief, mission rehearsal and review, embedded training and Enhanced Vision Systems (EVS) to name a few.
A higher level of situational awareness is provided when TacView is coupled with optical or infrared video sources such as CMC's I-Series Enhanced Vision System (EVS). The combined TacView/EVS system improves visibility impaired by darkness, fog, rain or smoke for increased mission effectiveness at unimproved airports or landing zones.
