Esterline CMC Electronics’ PilotView® Electronic Flight Bag Certified for Dassault Falcon 7X Business Jet Fleet
Oct 19

10/19/2009

(National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) – October 19, 2009) Esterline CMC Electronics' PilotView® Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) has been certified by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for the Dassault Falcon 7X business jet. The PilotView EFB is a standard option for the Falcon 7X as well as the 2000DX, 2000LX, 900DX, 900EX and 900LX series of business jets.

The PilotView EFB is installed on a specially designed articulated mount to accommodate the Falcon 7X’s fly-by-wire side stick. This ultra-long range aircraft is the first business jet to make use of fly-by-wire technology. Qualification tests for the new installation design were performed by Esterline CMC Electronics. The Falcon 900 and 2000 series PilotView installations are side mounted.

"With its solid state construction and avionics grade hardware, the PilotView EFB is going to be an excellent addition to the EASy flight deck," said Eric Monsel, Vice President of Programs at Dassault Falcon. "Our operators should find the PilotView EFB to be a very effective cockpit aid."

Bruce Bailey, Esterline CMC Electronics’ Vice President, Commercial Aviation, said, “Pilots will appreciate the added flexibility and functionality that our PilotView EFB brings to the 7X cockpit. As our class 2 EFB operates independently of the certified avionics suite, Dassault and its operators will have the opportunity to introduce new functionalities to the aircraft. With the PilotView EFB, CMC provides features found only in Class 3 EFBs such as ‘FMS-style’ line select keys, a high-resolution, fully dimmable display, integrated communication capabilities and DO-160D qualification. We deliver robust features today with built-in flexibility for the future.”

CMC’s PilotView EFB improves productivity and reduces workload. Flight preparation is made easy with efficient access to up-to-date aircraft documentation, checklists and flight planning information. During flight, the PilotView further reduces pilot workload with electronic charts and manuals, and enhance safety with real-time weather information. On the ground, electronic logs capture essential information and fleet management is performed in practically real time with the electronic transfer of data that was previously circulated on paper. The PilotView EFB is a compact, lightweight system with a display/processor unit and aircraft interface unit, which are easy to install in a variety of cockpits.

Over 23 STCs are available for the PilotView EFB on aircraft ranging from the Gulfstream GV and GIV and Bombardier Global Express/XRS to the Boeing 737. PilotView is the sole OEM Class 2 EFB option at Dassault, Pilatus and Sino Swearingen. PilotView has been selected by Rockwell Collins for the Bombardier Global platform, by Embraer for the E-170/190 program, by ATR for the ATR-42 and ATR-72 aircraft, by Bombardier for the CRJ700/900/1000 and by Boeing for the Next-Generation B-737s and BBJs.
