Public Kiosk Metal Key Keyboard

Challange:
The rigors imposed by public kiosk deployments or highly harsh environments.
Solution:
- The keyboard was designed to combat a variety of areas in which other keyboard technologies cannot accommodate.
- The keyboard utilizes a highly engineered technology, which results in a keyboard that not only has a metal bezel, but also metal key-caps with a touch type tactile feel. This approach eliminates susceptibility to keys being removed, cut with pocketknives and even melted with cigarette lighters.
Application:
Public kiosk, also available as Advanced Input Systems standard.
Innovations:
Metal keys, metal housing, anti vandal.

80-Standard Keyboard

Challange:
Create a small elastomer notebook-like appearance using standard electronic design control circuit.
Solution:
- Elastomer wrap around creates a seal when properly mounted.
- Standard elastomer allows customers to create custom legend/color versions at minimal cost.
Application:
Used as an off-the-shelf catalog product and regularly customized for a low-cost solution.
Innovations:
Notebook layout with standardized electronics.

Kiosk Keyboard for Retail Store

Challange:
Keyboard needed to be highly cleanable in a general public environment, but typical Flat Panel dome would have too much force on the keys.
Solution:
- Highly cleanable in general public environment.
- Unique, low-profile key space provides acceptable tactile feel and minimizes debris traps.
- Sealed switches.
Application:
Kiosk for retail store where keyboard is subject to frequently being soiled.
Innovations:
Low-profile key geometry.

104-Standard Keyboard

Challange:
Standard Advanced Input Systems 104 keyboard had to accommodate both existing enclosures as well as bezel-less designs.
Solution:
- Elastomer was molded with a larger perimeter and mounting holes were placed for bezel-less design.
- Elastomer was also die cut to fit into existing enclosures.
Application:
Advanced Input Systems standard keyboard.
Innovations:
Allows for customization of standard board to accommodate client’s custom legends or language versions with minimal cost.

Standard Desktop Keyboard

Challange:
The goal was to create an Advanced Input Systems standard product design, duplicating the existing laptop layout with a backlit rubber solution. Power consumption had to be kept to a minimum.
Solution:
- Elastomer design was fit into existing plastic enclosure.
- LED backlighting used solar-powered LED’s to maximize light output with minimal power consumption.
Application:
Advanced Input Systems standard desktop product.
Innovations:
Solar-powered LED’s. Three levels of light intensity are provided for the user.

High-End Copier Touchscreen Control

Challange:
Display had to be mounted in a rotating-pivoting mechanism with an exact amount of resistance for accuracy of motion.
Solution:
- Custom pivoting mount was designed.
- Several prototype models were created until the “feel” of rotation was acceptable to the client.
Application:
Auxiliary control panel for high-end color copiers.
Innovations:
Torque pivot/hinge device.
