The control display family consists of a variety of products which main purpose is to control one or more aircraft subsystems. They form a key interface between the aircraft systems and the pilots. From an HMI standpoint the family can be divided into two groups being keyboard based products (the Control Display & Management System; CDMS) and full touchscreen based products (the touchscreen control units; TSCU).
Control Display & Management System (CDMS-3000)
The CDMS-3000 is a group of products featuring a LED-backlit 4x3 inch full color VGA LCD panel. Various keyboard sizes with different engravings and colors are available, enabling form-fit-function compatibility with existing units.
The CDMS-3000 comes in different variants, including the civil oriented CDMS-3739 (ARINC 739), the military-oriented CDMS-3153 (combo ARINC-429 and MIL-STD-1553), and the versatile CDMS-370X, which hosts CMC's unique MOSArt™ platform. These MOSArt-equipped versions allow customers to develop and integrate their own applications (e.g. FMS or mission solution) on these flexible platforms.
CDMS-3000 Control Display and Management System
Touch Screen Control Unit (TSCU-3000)
CMC's next-generation control displays feature a full-size safety critical multi-touch screen. This enables a new range of flexible and intuitive means to interact with the aircraft systems, while staying compliant with the safety requirements of the environment.
Having the standard dimensions of a conventional CDMS, this device is suitable for both retrofit and new installations. The fail-safe multi-touch screen – allowing safe-guarded single touch and gestures – offers pilots a practical and intuitive way to interact with the aircraft systems.
With its key-less touch screen, TSCU offers much more flexibility than a conventional CDMS system, because the content on the screen can be adapted to the phase of the flight. This means that next to traditional CDMS functions, the device can be used e.g. as a Virtual Control Panel, as an embedded Electronic Flight Bag, as a monitor for camera inputs, as a navigation device, and many more. Because the processing core of the TSCU supports the CMC MOSArt™ System Architecture, the allocation of functions is fully definable and controllable by the system integrator.
