UK-based military communication specialist, Racal Acoustics, today launched the first product in its latest headset range, the Racal Acoustics In the Ear Communication Device (IECD) headset, at Soldier Technology Global 2008 in London.
The small form factor and very low-profile headset offers the modern infantry soldier an extremely comfortable and high performance In Ear Communications Device that provides hearing protection, situational awareness and highly intelligible communications.
Employing Racal Acoustics proven Talk-Through functionality, the IECD headset enables the user to retain a high degree of their natural hearing perception. This function employs active protection to ensure that sounds heard through the electronic system are limited to safe levels, yet it maintains the localised situational awareness and received communications
“We are very excited to be launching Racal Acoustics first ever IECD. We have spent a great deal of time receiving feedback from users and analysing their needs and requirements. The result is a IECD that complements our proven range of communication and hearing protection headset products” said Steve Rist, Product Manager at Racal Acoustics.
“Security of fit, low profile and product comfort were key design aspects and the feedback that we are receiving is that we have achieved this in all regards” he concluded.
The IECD headset is being promoted as an integral part of Racal Acoustics Future Tactical Communication System (FTCS). FTCS enables the user to select the headset types, including on-the-ear, Active Noise Reduction (ANR) and Passive Noise Reduction (PNR), around-the-ear tactical headset and now their in-the-ear headset, depending upon the operational requirements or their personal preference. It permits the connection to a number of communication devices simultaneously; including a wide range of radios and platform intercoms.
Steve Rist, Product Manager at Racal Acoustics, will be exhibiting and demonstrating the IECD headset series at Soldier Technology Global, the premier global soldier modernisation event in London from 3 – 6 June 2008.
