BELLEVUE, WA--(Marketwire - Oct 19, 2011) - Esterline Corporation (www.esterline.com) (NYSE: ESL), a leading specialty manufacturer serving the aerospace and defense markets, today announced that it has selected Geof Eeles to serve as President of the company's Advanced Sensors business platform, consisting of five global manufacturing operations in Europe and North America, as well as an aftermarket service organization in Asia.
Eeles has worked with Racal communication products for 28 years, the last nine years as President at the Racal Acoustics operation in Harrow, UK. Eeles has also held positions including Project Director for the "Chunnel" project as it related to installation of Racal data communications products and a Project Manager for Northrop Grumman's German subsidiary, LITEF. Those roles enabled him to lead multinational project teams and also live and work in Germany.
Esterline CEO Brad Lawrence said, "Geof has been a standout for Esterline ever since we acquired Racal Acoustics in early 2009. He's an intelligent, engaging, savvy business leader who is a great fit to lead our growing Advanced Sensors operations."
Eeles graduated from London's Polytechnic of the South Bank college with a degree in Electrical Engineering. A Chartered Engineer, Eeles has studied electronics, control engineering, computer engineering, communications engineering, electromagnetic fields and circuits, and has an undergraduate degree in Geology, Chemistry and Biology as well. He also led the Racal Acoustics team that received the Queen's Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category.
Eeles will be based at Esterline's Farnborough, UK Advanced Sensors facility. He succeeds former Advanced Sensors platform president Alain Durand, who was recently promoted to one of three corporate Group Vice President positions at Esterline.
