History of JANCO Rotary Products

Although in business with other products since 1947, Janco Corporation entered the commercial switch market in the mid-1950s by winning a position on the Lockheed Electra Series turboprop airliner.

By the time the B747-400 entered service in 1989, JANCO switches had become the established technology leader and the preferred choice of major US airframe manufacturers, by delivering a complete switching solution that saved both weight and space. During the 1980s, JANCO switches were also specified on European programs, most notably the supersonic Concorde.

JANCO switching technology can now be found on the Space Shuttle and other advanced programs. Because of its ruggedness, it has become a mainstay on high-reliability military platforms. Other areas of application also include the business jet and general aviation markets.
